Album Feature: A Journey Through Humor, Loss, and Existentialism
We are incredibly moved by the recent feature from AKT Music, which takes a deep and thoughtful look at our self-titled debut album. They describe the record as both “impactful and contemplative,” perfectly capturing the dual nature of our music.
The Balance of Wit and Weight
AKT Music highlighted one of our main creative goals: the juxtaposition of serious themes with a “playful, funny attitude.” They noted how tracks like “Reaper” and “Pandemonium” tackle heavy subjects—climate change, alienation, and the search for connection—all while maintaining a sardonic, dry wit. As they put it, our sound is “introspective yet easy to connect with,” finding relief in humor even while facing life’s difficulties.
Rooted in Tradition, Pushing Forward
The review also explored the sonic depth of the record, which was brought to life at The Garudio in Thousand Oaks. They recognized our blend of classic influences—The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones—with contemporary production techniques. A special shoutout was given to the meticulous mixing by Curt Piar, as well as our independent work on “Melting,” which AKT Music felt added a “personal element” to the overall journey.
A Profound Reflection
Perhaps the most touching part of the feature was the conclusion: that confronting life’s challenges is sometimes easiest done with a guitar in hand and a smile on your face. We’ve always seen this album as a reflection of ourselves—a mix of joy and contemplation—and we’re so glad that message came through loud and clear.
